Michael King
Michael King has been a dedicated faculty member at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) since 2020, teaching a broad range of courses across multiple programs. His approach to education is rooted in a belief that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom. He is a strong advocate for experiential learning, particularly through extracurricular opportunities that involve travel, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
Before joining NSCC, Michael lived and worked in Nunavut, in the Canadian Arctic, where he served as both a classroom teacher and an educational consultant. In that role, he was responsible for developing and coordinating regional and national projects involving student and staff travel across Canada—initiatives designed to promote engagement, leadership, and cross-cultural learning.
Michael began his teaching career in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he taught high school mathematics and physics. Throughout his early career, he was deeply involved in a wide array of co-curricular and extracurricular activities. These included coaching hockey and softball, advising math and robotics clubs, facilitating outdoor education and yoga programs, and supporting student leadership through initiatives such as the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). His diverse contributions reflect a commitment to student development, inclusivity, and holistic education.
