NSCC

In May, NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus Social Services student Isaac Coates and faculty Wayne McKay had the pleasure of taking part in the NSCC International program called BIDS Inclusion in Oulu, Finland. Along with Burridge Business Admin student Kaylynn Isles and NSCC International Project Coordinator Valessa Goncalves, they made the long journey to Northern Finland to meet up with students and faculty from schools in Finland, Denmark, Portugal, the Netherlands and New Brunswick to learn about best practices in supporting inclusion and accessibility for students as they study and transition to the workplace.

They also experienced and learned about Finnish culture and food, took part in a Finnish cold dip and sauna, visited the Arctic Circle, learned about Indigenous Sami culture and spent a day touring the capital, Helsinki.

It was an incredible learning exchange and we are grateful to our Finnish hosts for their spectacular hospitality. NSCC International has numerous opportunities for international learning for students and staff, and we learned firsthand just how wonderful these opportunities can be at enhancing the educational experience at NSCC.
