When participating in an international vocational module or training period, validation and recognition of vocational studies are important in order to ensure that the skills and competencies acquired during the module or training are recognized by education institutions in the participant’s home country.
Validation refers to the process of assessing and certifying the skills and knowledge acquired by the participant abroad. This is typically done by assessing the participant’s performance in the module, such as through tests, exams, and practical assignments. The validation process should be based on clear and transparent criteria and standards that are agreed upon in advance.
Recognition, on the other hand, refers to the acceptance of the skills and knowledge acquired during the international module by relevant authorities and institutions in the participant’s home country. They should be recognized and counted towards the participant’s professional qualification.
To ensure the validation and recognition of vocational studies during an international module, it is important to work closely with education and training providers in both the home country and the host country. This can involve establishing agreements and partnerships between institutions, aligning curricula and learning outcomes, and setting up clear processes and guidelines for the validation and recognition of skills and qualifications.
It is also important to ensure that the international module itself is of high quality. In this project the learning objectives of the module were planned to give students real skills and competences in the field. The modules were built according to ECVET criteria. It means that the learning outcomes were clearly described, their assessment criteria and procedures agreed and validation and recognition processes in all partner colleges clear.
